What better way to experience the beauty of the Northeastern Pennsylvania than by bike. Leadership Lackawannna and the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority have partnered to present the Heritage Explorer Bike Tour on Saturday, June 5, beginning in Mellow Park, Peckville, PA.

Riders can choose from four routes of 5, 10, 20 or 40-plus miles. The Archbald Limited route (5 miles) is perfect for beginners while families will enjoy the Powdermill Express route (10 miles). More experienced riders can try the Carbondale Special (20 miles) and the true bicycling enthusiasts can take on the Union Dale Wildcat (40+ miles to Union Dale). The Archbald Limited route will use the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail exclusively, while the longer tours will travel on a mix of rail-trails and roads through the communities along the Lackawanna River.

Register now and take advantage of some great offers. Anyone who pre-registers for the Bike Tour by May 14 will receive a ticket discount, an event t-shirt, and a free children’s bike helmet. The first 150 children, ages 12 and under, to register will also receive a free helmet, compliments of tour sponsors Munley, Munley & Cartwright, PC, the Foley Law Firm, and the NEPA Trauma Center at Community Medical Center.

On Friday, June 4, from 5-8 p.m., pre-registered participants can pick up their event packets and new participants can sign up at the Electric City Trolley Museum during a kick-off party featuring raffle prizes, live entertainment, specialty foods and more. There is a suggested $15 per person donation for the kick-off party.
