La Festa returns to Scranton

The annual three-day festival of Italian food, culture and music is schedule for September 5-7, 2009, on Courthouse Square in Scranton. Hours are noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Monday.
Thousands of people from across the state travel to Northeastern Pennsylvania each year to sample the finest Italian cuisine from more than 60 vendors, prepared fresh every day.
Along with the fantastic food choices, La Festa also offers continuous live entertainment. The entertainment schedule includes:
Saturday, September 5th
- Noon, Opening Ceremony
- 12:15-1:15 p.m., Ron Lee’s Orchestra
- 1:30-2 p.m., Civic Dance Studio
- 2-3 p.m., Picture Perfect
- 3-3:30 p.m., Arabesque Dance Academy
- 4-5 p.m., Take Five

- 10 a.m., Mass in Italian at St. Peter’s Cathedral

This year, in conjunction with La Festa, Steamtown National Historic Site will host Lackawanna Railfest ’09 September 5-6 featuring behind-the-scenes tours, exhibits and displays, special excursions, theater presentations, re-enactments and a USO musical performance. Shuttle transportation will be provided between La Festa and Steamtown.
