Fine Arts Fiesta returns to Wilkes-Barre

Fine Arts FiestaOne of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s longest running arts festivals returns next week when the Fine Arts Fiesta takes over downtown Wilkes-Barre from May 14-17.

The Fine Arts Fiesta started in 1956 with dramatic recreations of historical scenes and has evolved into a gathering of some of the most talented visual artists, musicians and performers from across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The center of activity will be Public Square with visual arts exhibitions, musicians performing throughout the Fiesta, juried art shows, food vendors and much more.

There will also be Fine Arts Fiesta exhibitions going on outside the square including:

  • Ramada Hotel on the Square-Public Square – Diane Grant Czajkowski, Mixed Media
  • Bart & Urby’s, 115 S. Main Street – Paintings by Karen Poles
  • Marquis Art & Frame Second Floor Gallery, 122 S. Main Street – “Three Flavors of Color,” group exhibition by Bonnie Coveleski, Catherine Laskaris and Maria Livrone.
  • Sordoni Art Gallery at Wilkes University, 150 S. River Street – “Jean-Michael Basquiat: An Intimate Portrait”
  • Osterhout Free Library, 71 S. Franklin Street – Views from the Permanent Collection
  • Genetti Hotel and Convention Center, 77 E. Market Street – Judy Hadsall, Watercolor/Mixed Media
  • Wyoming Valley Art League Members Gallery, 47 N. Franklin Street – ArtsYouniverse Members Mixed Media Members Exhibition
  • Modern Vintage, 96 South Franklin Street – Regional Artists Mixed Media
  • Pauly Friedman Gallery in Sandy & Marlena Insalaco Hall at Misericordia University – Selections from the Alice Welch Jenkins Permanent Collection

The schedule is Thursday and Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m.; Saturday, 1-3:30 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-3:30 p.m. and 5-6:30 p.m.
