LHVA breaks ground on Scranton RiverWalk

The Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority broke ground on its new Scranton Riverwalk this morning.

scrantonriverwalkThe Scranton Riverwalk is a section of LHVA’s Lackawanna River Heritage Trail project, a 40-mile multi-use recreational trail that follows the Lackawanna River from Forest City to Pittston.

The new Scranton Riverwalk connects the existing CNJ Trail in South Scranton to the still under construction Scranton Levee Trail. The Riverwalk extends one mile from West Olive Street along the Lackawanna River to North Seventh Avenue in Scranton and features a spur trail that connects to Scranton High School.

    We are planning a day trip to Scranton/Wilkes Barre for August or September and am looking for events planned @ the new Riverwalk we have heard about on WNEP. May I ask for a calendar of events?
