Today, on the “official” St. Patrick’s Day, it’s an excellent time to think green and get ready for the Great NEPA Clean-Up.

Held during Earth Week (April 18-25), the Great NEPA Clean-Up will help local groups coordinate and promote their clean-up events. The event is sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Conservation Alliance and the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (LHVA).

Organizations can get involved by planning a clean-up event to clean up trash and debris from neighborhoods and communities, roads, streams and rivers, parks and forests, and businesses anywhere in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Events must be registered by Friday, March 27, to be part of the Great NEPA Clean-Up. Visit www.LHVA.org to download a registration form, or contact Lindsey Ritchey at the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (LRitchey@LHVA.org or (570) 963-6730 x8212) to request a form by mail.

Volunteers can get involved by visiting www.LHVA.org and filling out the Ambassadors in Action volunteer registration form.

The Great NEPA Clean-Up is part of the Great American Clean-Up of PA, a partner of the national Great American Cleanup from March 1st through May 31st.
