Future of Funny hosts Scranton vs. W-B comedy fest

Today we introduce you to an up and coming comedy troupe based in the Scranton area, The Future of Funny.

The group was co-founded by locals John Walton and Kevin Lepka but has grown to include a network of comedians from across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Future of Funny hones its acts by performing regularly at open mic nights on Wednesday nights at The Clarion Hotel Hub Lounge, Meadow Avenue, Scranton, at 8:30 p.m.; and on Thursday nights at The Bar, 2257 South River Street, Plains, at 10:30 p.m. These shows are free.

On Sunday, February 22, The Future of Funny will host a Scranton versus Wilkes-Barre Charity Comedy Festival at the Clarion Hotel Ballroom, 300 Meadow Avenue, Scranton, to benefit St. Joseph’s Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ Mike Dean and the mayors of both cities will be in attendance to support the comics. Tickets are $15 which includes refreshments.

Other upcoming shows include Feb. 24 at Molly Brannigan’s, Scranton, 8 p.m.; April 16 at McGrath’s, Dalton, 9 p.m.; and April 22 at College Misericordia, Dallas, 7 p.m.
