First Friday map for February

For the first First Friday of 2009, there will be 21 venues across the downtown area participating this Friday, Feb. 6, from 6-9 p.m.

Some of the exhibits you’ll want to check out on Friday include “Abstractions,” a display of abstract photos by Jonathan Steele at Anthology New and Used Books, 515 Center Street; “Spanning Time and Place,” color photography by Patricia E. Dunleavy at The Electric Theatre Company, 326 Spruce St.; “Fallen Branches,” discarded tree branches turned into jewelry by Maura Cummings at GreenBeing, 334 Adams Ave; and “Illumination-Fire, Light and Heat,” featuring artists Brian Keeler, Thomas Wise and more at Laura Craig Galleries, 307 Linden St.

Scranton’s Vintage Theater, 408 Spruce St., will host an exhibition of black and white photography by Matt Artz, Jess Confer and Jon Walezak and The Scranton Times Building, 149 Penn Ave., will feature its student artist of the month, while you can catch live music at Dionysus Downtown, 244 Penn Ave.; the MAC Gallery, 123 Wyoming Ave.; and Northern Light Espresso Bar, 536 Spruce St.
