La Festa returns to Scranton

La Festa 2007Labor Day weekend is just weeks away and that means it’s La Festa time.

La Festa Italiana returns to downtown Scranton from August 30 through September 1 on Courthouse Square for its 33rd year.

The three day festival attracts close to 100,000 visitors to the downtown area annually to celebrate Italian culture through food, music and fun.

Nearly 70 vendors are set to offer a wide variety of the finest Italian cuisine prepared fresh daily. And visitors will enjoy continuous live entertainment on two stages that includes comedian, musician and Scranton native Pete Barbutti; a Frank Sinatra tribute by Chris DiMattio; The Poets; and a fireworks display sponsored by the City of Scranton. Hours are noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Monday. Admission is free.
