Rozar debuts at the Bog

This Monday, Nov. 6, the Bog, 341 Adams Ave., Scranton, will host the first-ever live performance by Rozar, the local songwriting/recording team of Walt Kosar and Conway Rowe.

Kosar and Rowe are veterans of the area’s music scene, traveling and playing in bands since the 1980s. But it was only recently that they teamed up to write and record the songs they’ll be performing at the Bog.

Before forming Rozar, the two met when Rowe came to study guitar under Kosar, who was, at the time, teaching classes at Gallucci Music, 503 Lackawanna Ave., Scranton. When Kosar decided to leave teaching, he recommended Rowe to take over the position.

In 1998, Rowe, along with his partner Mike Burke, purchased Gallucci Music, following the retirement of Angelo Gallucci; and they still operate the store today.

Kosar describes their music as rock/pop with ideas borrowed from the duo’s favorite musical styles including reggae, classical jazz and flamenco.Stop by the Bog’s open mic night Monday at 8 p.m. to check out the debut performance of Rozar. And visit their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/rozarmusic.
