Scranton Slighted in Video Game

In THQ’s latest installment of the popular WWE wrestling video game, Smackdown Versus Raw 2006, users are able to assign hometowns to created wrestlers on the game. However, in a slight that can only be compared to the treatment of American Indians by the U.S. Government or “You’ll Be In My Heart” by Phil Collins winning Best Original Song over Aimee Mann’s “Save Me” at the 1999 Academy Awards ceremony, Scranton is omitted from the game in favor of…Nesquehoning?

The other options for Pennsylvania aside from Nesquehoning in the game are Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, which would be perfectly acceptable choices ahead of Scranton, due to their size and historical significance. Even Harrisburg as the capital or Allentown, for what it once was, would have been acceptable choices ahead of our local utopia. But Nesquehoning? Has anything significant ever happened or come from Nesquehoning? A check of their official web site made it painfully clear that although it may be a nice place to live, it has no business being on a video game ahead of Scranton. If it weren’t for the fact that I’m lazy and was able to choose Parts Unknown for the origin of The Mucho Macho Man I would be writing to THQ and the WWE and sticking up for the pride of Scranton.
