The Scranton/Lackawanna County Enterprise Strategy is a broad-based economic strategy that was developed by the City of Scranton and Lackawanna County. As part of the strategy, consultants conducted a market analysis of the community that will be used to develop a strategic plan. Feedback obtained from a public input meeting assisted the consultants in identifying the top eight to ten development priorities for the community.

This is the type of study that really illustrates the commitment of the powers that be have in helping redefine Scranton. Over the past two years efforts like this study and that of the Chamber have made an overwhelming positive impact on the city and its future course.

Everyone should take two minutes to review the report.

I’ve looked over this report and all I have to say is, look at that report. Let’s see some action next. With the way political power is stratified around here we’ll be lucky if any of this information is used for much else, but a giant paper “paper weight”. Secondaly there are so many distinct communities within Scranton and its outlying areas that to unify them would take a lot more time than is available to make any progress within our lifetimes. They’ve been homogeneous and nothing has changed for a reason around here: people are scared, uneducated, and having some deep seated racial issues/pride.
