The Banshee

This stereotypical Irish bar is impressive. You can’t help but notice the incredible size as you walk through the large Irish designed front door. The bar is a magnificently long solid dark wood bar, with a beautiful brass rail.

The drink selection is impressive, and easily one of the finest in town. Private parties can be held upstairs, in a room equally as remarkable. With one of the finer import selections of beer in town and authentic live Irish acts, the Banshee should be one stop on any local’s list of things to do.

The Banshee is located at 322 Penn Ave. between Mulberry and Linden streets; phone, 969-4248.

It’s too large and a lot of the help are rude… not a good place to go if you’re looking for some privacy.

Seems to be the overriding tone for most of the venues down-town. Mostly the reason is the people that go there, the business crowd of 30+s that feel they have the right to act however they want after they’ve worked all day.

I still love this place for lunch since the food is good and there is a nice atmosphere for lunch meetings. I tend to stay away on Weekends due to the ear piercing music. Their selection of beers is either 1 or 2 in town.
